This amendment would fund $880,000 to establish and implement a climate resiliency program, and give assistance and grants to local governments and tribes.

The amendment appropriates $880,000 to establish a climate resiliency program providing technical assistance and grants to local governmental units and Tribal governments. Climate resiliency technical assistance and grants may fund climate risk assessment, planning, and pre-design necessary for infrastructure bond funding to address issues of community flooding and wastewater treatment system overflows caused by inadequate stormwater or sanitary sewer infrastructure.

Status

The amendment failed, and funding for a local climate resiliency program was not included in the Senate Environment Omnibus bill. The bill now proceeds to Conference Committee to be combined with the House’s version of the Environment Omnibus bill.

A "no" vote does not create a local climate resiliency program.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote creates a local climate resiliency program providing $880,000 toward helping municipalities and tribes respond to climate change.
